High frequency Transition Radiation from uniaxial crystal

چکیده
Transition radiation from an ultrarelativistic particle flying out of the crystal surface at an arbitrary angle is considered. The expression for the spectral-angular density of radiation in the high frequencies has been obtained. The dependence of the resulting radiation distribution depending on the directions of the crystal main axis relative to the surface and the angle of the emission particle velocity is investigated.

Focusing of Electromagnetic Wave from Hy- Perbolic Lens into a Uniaxial Crystal with an Arbitrary Orientation of the Optical Axis in the Presence of Aberrations
We derive integral representations suitable for studying the focusing of electromagnetic waves through a symmetrically hyperbolic focusing lens into uniaxial crystal in the presence of cylindrical and coma aberrations using Maslov’s method. The uniaxial crystal used is the negative crystal LiNbO3. Numerical computations are made to obtain the results for focused fields inside negative uniaxial ...
متن کاملFormation of probing radiation for investigating a uniaxial x-cut crystal with the help of an aperiodic diffractive axicon
The paper presents an experimental study of transformation of a laser beam formed by an aperiodic diffractive axicon (fracxicon) in a lithium niobate x-cut. The beam is shown to undergo astigmatic rhomboidal transformation induced by the crystal birefringence. The output beam intensity distribution is measured at various distances from the crystal. The effects analyzed make it possible to exten...
متن کاملUltrahigh Birefringent Photonic Crystal Fiber: An Improved Design
An improved design of Photonic Crystal Fiber with extremely high birefringence and ultralow confinement loss is proposed and analyzed by fullvector finite-element method with uniaxial perfectly matched layers. Numerical results confirm that the proposed structure provides extremely high birefringence (~0.022) and ultralow confinement loss (<0.001dB/km).
متن کاملThe cosmological kibble mechanism in the laboratory: string formation in liquid crystals.
The production of strings (disclination lines and loops) has been observed by means of the Kibble mechanism of domain (bubble) formation in the isotropic-nematic phase transition of the uniaxial nematic liquid crystal 4-cyano-4'-n-pentylbiphenyl. The number of strings formed per bubble is about 0.6. This value is in reasonable agreement with a numerical simulation of the experiment in which the...
